Top 10 Forestry Mods for Farming Simulator 17

Hello everyone!  In this article, I will list my Top 10 Forestry mods for Farming Simulator 17.  This list, obviously can't cover all the great mods out there, so I have thought about some essential mods that I just couldn't live without (or at least would have a hard time doing without) on FS17.

This top 10 list is my opinion and there are likely mods out there that I have not used yet or don't know about yet.  I do try to check the mod sites, nearly daily to look for new mods.

So, let's get to it.

I have ranked my Top 10 forestry mods starting with some "nice to haves".  Links to these mods will be made if available.  Some of these mods you must "Like" a Facebook page to gain access to them.  I recommend doing that anyway if you Facebook to show support for the mod creators and to have access to past and future mods.

10.  Bumper Winch.  I honestly have not had a chance to check this mod out yet as it was just released yesterday, I believe.  I had to add it to the list, because sometimes you might be on some steep terrain and a tree will get away from you.  This mod allows you to hook onto a tree and winch it back up the hill.  Give it a try and see what you think.

9.  Crane Loader by FDR Logging  There is nothing better than pulling up to the sawmill and hopping in this crane loader and being able to offload the entire load of logs in one grab.  Enough said.  Go check it out!

8.  AHWI FM700 Stump Grinder  What to do with all those stumps left behind?  They just get in the way, your tractor gets stuck on them, and they are a real pain!  Grind them up!  This is a great mod for forestry.

7.  Logging Trailers by FDR Logging  I have tried several different logging trailer mods and I keep using the ones by FDR Logging.  You have to transport the logs somehow and these trailers are really good.

6.  Bruks Wood Chipper  I did not like this mod at first, but if you only use it to chip up wood, it works pretty good.  In fact, I use it now on every forestry map I play.  Just turn it on, lower the head, and drive to the wood to chip it up.  You can pull a trailer behind your tractor to collect the chips, but I find it easier to not have the trailer and then offload the chips to a trailer later.  Great mod for cleaning up your logging site, but not losing some money by collecting the chips to sell later.

5.  Kenworth T800 Log Truck by SeriousMods  SeriousMods puts out some QUALITY mods for Farming Simulator 17 as you will see further down this list.  The Kenworth T800 and Western Star trucks he put out blew me away with the level of detail.  Due to the level of detail, this log truck is my favorite.

4.  Woodchip Storage Facility  This placeable mod is very nice.  It will allow you to store up to 1,000,000 liters of woodchips and load a trailer as needed.  At night, it has lights that come on, which is a nice touch.  Highly recommended if you want to wait for the prices to go up at the sawmill and quickly deliver a LOT of woodchips.

3.  Tigercat Grapple Loader  (search Cabs Modding on Facebook if the link doesn't take you there)  This is hands down my favorite grapple loader for FS17.  This is a quality mod made by Cabs Modding, who has put out several great mods.  Like his Facebook group to download several great forestry mods.

2.  John Deere 748H Skidder  Here is another that I have not used much yet.  The reason I ranked it so high is based on how it performed for Farming Simulator 15.  I really liked this skidder in FS15 and I just know it will perform the same in FS17.  This is one I might be revising if I find it's not up to par, but I had to rank it high.  Give it try and see what you think.

1.  The Interior map by SeriousMods  SeriousMods really outdid himself on this forestry map.  I continue to be blown away by the detail, roads, sawmill, etc on this map.  It is a challenging map as well.  You have to be a pretty good log truck driver to navigate some of these twisting roads.  As far as forestry-only maps go, this is high on my list.
